HOUR 14 of the 24-Hour Read-a-Thon

I know I only woke up at Hour 9, but still. I also missed out on the FREE RICE challenge, which I'm really sad about coz I LOVE freerice! :( Ah well, I'll just have to go back to playing freerice for no particular reason again! ;) I also missed hour 12 (or was it 13?) coz I went to McD's with my friend- brunch at the hall isn't the best! ;) Hope everyones having a good time- I'd better get back to cheering! =D Also, the hour 14 mini-challenge asks you what your foodporn of choice is...!

Secret Fates Extravaganza! :)

The awesometastic Kelly Parra is hosting a fantastic book release party here from October 1st-31st! There was another very cool book video that I posted a few months ago (I think in July?) but I don't know how to nudge things up so it's being reposted. =D

24-Hour Read-a-thon!

Yup, the 24-Hour Read-a-thon is on TODAY, and I'm a cheerleader! Woot! I just woke up so now I can start cheering. Double woot! (My brain hasn't quite turned on yet, can you tell? ;D) I signed up kind of late coz I was away for a while- long story, no internet access! (Which is also why I haven't blogged for so long) =D Have a good one you guys!

Don't forget to laugh like CrAzY!

Nalini Singh's Hostage to Pleasure Contest! =D

Nalini Singh is having an awesometastic contest for the release of her latest book Hostage To Pleasure. She is giving away a US$75 gift certificate from an online bookstore of your choice! How generous is that! =D She is also a fellow kiwi, so that always gets bonus points from me! All you have to do is go to her blog and answer 1-3 questions! My answers are:

* Which fictional hero (from books, tv, movies...) would you most like to hold hostage?
I’m not sure if they’ll be considered heroes or not, but I’ve always loved cute things. Recently, I haven’t been able to stop watching Curious George lately (the movie kind of has a calming effect on me), so I’ll have to go with him! He just looks so cute, doesn’t he? I just want to hug him and have him all to myself! =D
* Which fictional hero would you most like to be held hostage by?Hmmmm… that’s a tough one! I really like JD from Scrubs, he seems like a really funny guy to hang out with- and things won’t get boring with his freaky daydreams. That, and he seems too nice to lock me in a dungeon and starve me to death! ;)
* Which fictional world would you most like to be held hostage in?
I’ve always thought that Bayern and Kildenree from The Goose Girl (by Shannon Hale) would be really nice to live in. There is magic but it isn’t overwhelmingly ‘supernatural’, so it wouldn’t be so scary. =) It’s not too dark, and it isn’t boringly safe either! Ooh, and if it was a movie it'd definitely be Charlie and the Chocolate factory (For obvious reasons!)- the orignal one though! ;)

I have a nagging feeling that I've forgotten something in my answers... Lol! Hostage to Pleasure has already come out (on Sept 2nd) so make sure you check out Nalini's site!

Teaser Tuesday! Sept 2nd

To participate you have to:
· Grab your current read.
· Let the book fall open to a random page.
· Share with us two (2) “teaser” sentences from that page, somewhere between lines 7 and 12.
· You also need to share the title of the book that you’re getting your “teaser” from … that way people can have some great book recommendations if they like the teaser you’ve given!· Please avoid spoilers!

The book I'm reading right now is Breathing Underwater by Alex Flinn (excerpt from page 120)

"Spots of perspiration appear on his uniform, and I can see the wheels turning. He knows there's a restraining order, knowa I'm on the same planet as Caitlin."

Teaser Tuesday! =D

I know it isn’t exactly Tuesday anymore ;) but I just found this at Kelsey’s blog Reading Keeps You Sane (which is very awesome by the way!) and really wanted to do it! To participate you have to:

· Grab your current read.
· Let the book fall open to a random page.
· Share with us two (2) “teaser” sentences from that page, somewhere between lines 7 and 12.
· You also need to share the title of the book that you’re getting your “teaser” from … that way people can have some great book recommendations if they like the teaser you’ve given!
· Please avoid spoilers!

The book I’m reading right now is: Staying Fat for Sarah Byrnes by Chris Crutcher (Oh yeah, and the quotes are from page 36) =D

#1:“According to the man, who identified himself as Morton Thornton, the night got real long and by midnight, he was darn well wed to one of the lovelier inhabitants of the dish, a comely middle-aged amoeba of unknown parentage named Rita.”
#2:“Only sixteen years later, when a brilliant Sacajawea Junior High roving reporter- who shall remain nameless- discovered the product of this union lurking among us right here at Sac Junior High, was Morton’s long-held secret discovered.”

Make what you will of that! I’m only up to page 70, but it’s a great read so far. There are quite a few reviews I’ve seen that say it’s a tearjerker, so keep those tissues handy. If you want to give Teaser Tuesday a try then go to Should Be Reading.
